Concrete Surveyor / Layout Technician

Job Summary
Stake out sites and transfer reference points from design drawings to enable construction, primarily for sidewalks, slabs, walls, storm sewers, and curbs. Read blueprints to layout jobs and set forms using GPS units calibrated with control points. Assist foremen with plan layout and site stakeouts while providing physical support and equipment operation to field teams. Solve problems independently and safely in conjunction with project managers. Requires one year of construction experience, knowledge of elevations, and proficiency with Trimble GPS systems. Travel to surrounding job sites is required, with per diem compensation for overnight stays.
Required Qualifications
- One-year minimum experience in the construction industry
- Experience with elevations
- Knowledge of Trimble GPS systems
- Ability to read blueprints and layout jobs, mostly sidewalks, slabs, and walls with experience to set forms
- Site layout for storm sewer, sanitary sewer, watermain, parking lots and curbs building pads
- Setting up GPS units using control points and blueprints
- Ability to work independently and safely in conjunction with a foreman or project manager to solve problems in the field as needed
- Experience in leading and managing a crew to produce quality results
- Providing support to field teams through physical labor and equipment operation
- Travel may be required for this position as the employee must be willing to travel to surrounding job sites
