CONCRETE FINISHER (SEASONAL)

Job Summary

Conduct daily equipment inspections and site walks to identify unsafe conditions, then safely smooth and finish poured concrete surfaces using hand or power tools. Signal concrete deliverers for truck positioning, spread concrete into inaccessible form sections, level material to specified depth, and remove or patch defective spots. Molds expansion joints, mixes cement, and directs subgrade work while troubleshooting material quality or equipment issues. Monitor production problems with supervisors and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DNR regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. This seasonal role offers winter time off for travel or hunting while maintaining year-round benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of concrete finisher experience
  • Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written)
  • Self-motivated
  • Team-player with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.)
  • Ability to monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors
  • Ability to ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance
  • Must be available for every other Saturday
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be available for Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Must be able to safely smooth and finish surfaces of poured to specified textures using hand tools or power tools including floats, trowels, trowel machines, and screeds
  • Must be able to signal concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete
  • Must be able to safely and properly perform maintenance
  • Must be able to safely and properly spread concrete into inaccessible sections of forms using rake or shovel
  • Must be able to level concrete to specified depth and workable consistency
  • Must be able to remove rough or defective spots from concrete and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
  • Must be able to mold expansion joints and may sprinkle chips, powdered steel or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish
  • Must be able to mix cement and direct subgrade work
