Job Summary
Operate complex equipment including trucks, backhoes, and concrete mixers to repair and install concrete structures. Assist with base preparation by setting forms, positioning steel, measuring, pouring, and finishing surfaces with trowels. Mix cement and water, remove wooden forms, backfill, and clean construction sites to eliminate hazards. Signal equipment operators for alignment and control traffic in work zones while complying with all safety policies. Work long, flexible hours including nights, weekends, and extended outdoor periods across all seasons.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 21 years old
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in concrete finishing
- Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds)
- Position requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment
- Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions
- Meet departmental grooming and performance standards
- Have a regular and predictable attendance
- Candidate must have a good work ethic
- Work as a team player
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
- Preferably in curb and gutter/sidewalk
- A valid driver's license with a good MVR is preferred but not required
