Job Summary
Analyze project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine quantities, labor requirements, equipment needs, and material costs. Perform quantity takeoffs for footings, foundations, slabs, structural concrete, sidewalks, curb and gutter, and site flatwork. Develop labor, equipment, and material cost estimates while soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing. Prepare bid proposals, scopes, and bid packages, and participate in bid strategy meetings and pre-bid walkthroughs. Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities, and track historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy. Collaborate closely with project managers, field supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure estimates are thorough, competitive, and aligned with production capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of estimating experience in concrete or commercial construction
- Experience estimating foundations, structural concrete, and flatwork
- Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers
- Strong blueprint reading and specification interpretation
- Quantity takeoffs and cost estimating
- Experience with estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Procore, Sage, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills
- Understanding of concrete production methods and scheduling
