Job Summary
Open and close café shifts, operating hot and cold service lines to prepare drinks and menu items per standardized recipes. Manage point-of-sale transactions, handle cash responsibly, and deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining accurate paperwork and data entry. Multitask simultaneous orders, perform routine inventory checks, create vendor orders, and assist drivers with loading and unloading. Maintain knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods, including creating daily or weekly special menu items. This part-time role at the Arizona Humane Society's Papago Park Campus Café requires one year of high-volume kitchen or beverage service experience, a Food Handler Card, and the ability to stand and walk up to ten hours daily.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- One-year prior work experience in a high-volume kitchen or beverage service environment
- Food Handler Card (or Food Handler Certificate)
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to handle food items safely and properly in a kitchen environment
- Understanding of retail and cash handling operations
- Ability to learn/use POS software (for use with food service in a restaurant environment)
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, up to ten (10) hours per workday
- Must be able to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance on a ladder, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must occasionally bend, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, heat, cold, and temperature changes
- Must be able to tolerate occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors, and dander
