Job Summary
Computer Technician responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining the district’s network hardware, PCs, software, and related equipment; diagnosing and resolving network problems; performing network security tasks; and supporting system maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery planning. Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, knowledge of LAN/WAN design, hardware/software applications, multiple operating systems, and strong communication skills. Major duties include installing/testing/upgrading network hardware/software, monitoring utilization, diagnosing connectivity and hardware issues, maintaining documentation, implementing security, running backups, and coordinating with vendors; after-hours availability and occasional district-wide travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or management information systems, industrial I.T certifications, or equivalent experience in network administration
- Knowledge of LAN and WAN network design and installation
- Knowledge of network hardware and software applications including network servers, printers, and other equipment
- Ability to work with multiple operating systems and network protocols
- Ability to analyze and resolve computer network problems
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
