Job Summary
Computer Specialist for the Public Safety Technology Division responsible for deploying, maintaining, and supporting mission-critical systems including mobile data terminals, in-car camera systems, and investigative databases to enable deputies and personnel to perform field operations and investigations. Responsibilities include configuring and troubleshooting MDTs and peripheral devices, maintaining connectivity and data systems, responding to help desk requests, participating in incident response and service restoration, performing routine maintenance and patches, documenting incidents and resolutions, and maintaining inventory with asset tagging for compliance. Requires a bachelor’s or associate degree in IT-related field with 1 year of professional IT experience (or 3 years of IT training/experience), knowledge of Microsoft Office, SQL, SharePoint, Windows and Mac OS, ability to work in emergencies, and physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and climb ladders. The role expects on-call duties, after-hours emergencies, and occasional overtime under Public Safety operations.
Required Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree or associates degree in a Computer/Information Technology related field plus one year of professional level experience in information technology; or 3 years of experience and/or training in information technology/computer networking
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SQL and/or SharePoint
- Knowledge of various Windows operating systems. Knowledge of Mac OS a plus.
- Ability to resolve issues with both Android and iOS mobile operating systems.
- Must be a self-starter, organized, detailed oriented, and able to complete task independently with little guidance.
- Must be able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently. Must have the ability to manage several projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to respond to callouts for routine as well as emergency situations and natural disasters.
- Must be able to lift equipment and supplies up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to climb a ladder up to 12 feet. Must be capable of working on the ground, in ceiling, vehicles, or non-office space locations in odd positions to install/troubleshoot cabling or equipment.
- Illegal marijuana use in the last 12 months or use of other illegal drugs in the last 24 months will disqualify an applicant from employment.
