Job Summary
Execute composite installation trade repairs and modifications to shipboard structures while ensuring work complies with applicable installation procedures and practices. Undergo composite certification and qualification training, maintain quality standards per Composite Workbooks and Owner's Manual, and complete all required documentation in the project QA book. Report daily progress updates to supervisors and adhere strictly to safety precautions, OSHA requirements, and local regulations when handling hazardous materials. Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design notices to support ship maintenance availabilities across US Navy installations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Composite Technician
- Minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships
- Composite Owner's Manual familiarity and proficiency
- Composite Work Item Workbook familiarity and proficiency
- Must be familiar with NAVY Standard Items
- Ability to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements and drawings
- Keen attention to detail
- Quality metric driven
- US citizenship
- Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- Fluency in English (verbal and written)
- Secret DOD security Clearance
- Shipyard competent person certification
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds on your own
- Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities
- Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
- Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials
Desired Qualifications
- Technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement
- Current active Secret clearance
- Familiar with basic computer skills
- Familiar with MS-Office programs including Word and Excel
