Job Summary
The Composite Fabricator at Stratolaunch is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and assembly of composite structures and components, utilizing techniques such as wet and pre-preg lay-up processes. Key responsibilities include dry fit and sub-assembly of aircraft components, hand sanding, operating curing ovens, and ensuring safety protocols. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in composite airframe fabrication, detail orientation, and knowledge of manufacturing principles. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces is required.
Required Qualifications
- 5 + years’ experience in Composite airframe and structure fabrication, installation and assembly
- Strong understanding of FOD control and tool control
- Detail-oriented – strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing philosophies and tools
- Personnel safety mentality
- Ability to solve problems and adapt quickly
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to wear a respirator
Desired Qualifications
- Current A & P license
- Experience with high temperature materials such as BMI resins, titanium, and high temperature epoxy’s
- Experience with high tolerance assembly techniques, including laser metrology, precision tooling and jigging
- Application, repair, and replacement of thermal protection system materials
