Job Summary
Fractionate whole blood and prepare, modify, and label components for long-term storage or shipment under the direction of the Assistant Operations Coordinator. Operate equipment and document details accurately, both electronically and manually, while ensuring compliance with FDA, AABB, EU, and OSHA standards. Maintain proper temperature of unprocessed blood products and complete federally regulated unit transactions without error multiple times daily. Work independently in a high-stress environment involving repetitive physical tasks, including standing or walking up to 12 hours and lifting up to 30 pounds, while responding to emergency situations with little notice.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, unassisted
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to gloves, gowns, and face shields, at all times, as appropriate for the task
- Ability to document details accurately and completely, both electronically and manually
- Fundamental aptitude for computer skills including use of email, ability to use blood bank software, and routine office applications
- Ability to work independently and efficiently when direct supervision is unavailable
- Ability to work with strict time expectations/restraints/deadlines
- Ability/aptitude to perform in compliance with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and standards set forth by, but not limited to, the following regulatory bodies: FDA, AABB, EU, and OSHA
- Ability to identify problems, make sound judgments and balance multiple projects simultaneously
- Good verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to remain focused on repetitive tasks
- Must possess time flexibility to respond to emergency, disaster, or weather situations with little or no notice
- Regular full-time attendance is required
- We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testing
Desired Qualifications
- Six months' experience in a repetitive work environment preferred
- Six months' experience in blood banking or other regulated environment preferred
