Job Summary
Component Engineer to manage electronic and electromechanical components across the product lifecycle, including selection, qualification, classification, and obsolescence mitigation. Works with electrical design, supply chain, and manufacturing to ensure components meet electrical performance, environmental, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. Interpret and analyze electrical BOMs, schematics, and documentation; perform BOM scrubbing for obsolete or non-preferred components and recommend qualified alternates or second sources. Create and maintain component records, monitor End of Life notices and Product Change Notices, participate in EOL planning and cross-functional reviews to mitigate risks. Support component testing and evaluation of substitutes; assess impact of substitutions and engineering changes. Collaborate with Supply Chain, Planning, and Procurement to ensure component availability, and engage with Import/Export Control and Trade Compliance for ECCN and HTS classifications. Generate and maintain component-related engineering documentation and communicate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain stakeholders. Focus on continuous improvement of component engineering processes through automation, data analytics, and AI-based tools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program preferred
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in component engineering, electrical hardware engineering, or electronic product development
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
