Job Summary
Conduct routine patrols and nuisance inspections to identify violations of city ordinances regarding grass, garbage, and illegal vehicles. Communicate directly with property owners to document issues and prepare violation reports. Maintain department property files and perform follow-up inspections as required. Attend Administrative Adjudication court hearings when necessary. Enforce ordinances with firmness, tact, and impartiality while balancing simultaneous calls and assignments. This role involves 50% office work and 50% field time, requiring travel between locations and the ability to function under hostile situations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic personal computer knowledge
- Current & valid driver's license
- Experience working with public under emotionally trying circumstances
- Ability to enforce City ordinances with firmness, tact, and impartiality
- Ability to explain ordinances, processes, and procedures
- Ability to function well under sometimes hostile situations
- Ability to work as a team member and to foster a teamwork environment
- Ability to be decisive, exercise initiative, and sound judgment
- Ability to prepare and maintain records and prepare reports and forms on time
- Ability to balance and prioritize simultaneous calls and assignments
- Ability to cope with frequent interruptions and adapt to changing needs
- Ability to work autonomously and independently
- Travel between locations is required
Desired Qualifications
- Preferably 2-3 years of professional experience; in a related field preferred but not required
