Compliance Officer, Germany (Fixed-Term Contract)

Job Summary
Advising management and employees on compliance and regulatory matters while supporting the implementation of new and amended regulatory requirements. Maintain and improve procedures ensuring adherence to applicable regulations, and conduct risk assessments to develop a risk-based Compliance Plan. Review new products, services, processes, and systems for regulatory compliance, and prepare reporting to communicate risks and recommendations to leadership. Monitor legal and regulatory developments, support remediation of compliance findings, and act as a point of contact for supervisory authorities. Work closely with Risk Control and stakeholders to manage compliance risks, while supporting training and governance processes. This fixed-term role requires 8 years of relevant experience and a Juris Doctorate, with 3 days in-office attendance expected.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
- Current member in good standing of a State Bar with the ability to become barred or a registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located
- English is used for both verbal and written internal communication
- Visa requires at least 3 days in office
- Expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager
Desired Qualifications
- 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree
- 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
- 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
- Relevant academic degree in law, business administration, finance or a related discipline
- Experience working in compliance, legal, risk management, regulatory affairs or another control function within financial services or a regulated industry
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks and risk management principles
- Experience identifying and assessing regulatory or compliance risks
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical and effective business solutions
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently while building trusted relationships across the organization
- High integrity, professionalism and sound judgement
- Excellent written and spoken English and German
- Experience from fintech, payments, banking or other regulated financial services environments
