Job Summary
The Compliance Manager for Access Control & Gate Systems oversees ensuring access control systems, gate operators, and related low-voltage security installations meet applicable codes, standards, permitting requirements, and regulations. Responsibilities include interpreting local, state, and federal codes, developing permitting strategies across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), reviewing designs for compliance with building/fire/life safety/electrical standards, and maintaining documentation from design through final inspection. The role requires deep knowledge of access control platforms (Lenel, Genetec, etc.), experience with acquiring permits, and ensuring compliance in commercial/industrial environments. Collaboration with engineers, project management, inspections, and sales teams is essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects, read drawings, and ensure accurate recordkeeping. Compensation range is $80,000-$90,000 annually. The position is based in Columbia, South Carolina (US) and is an in-person role.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in permitting, compliance, or code enforcement related to access control systems, gate operators, automated gates and other low-voltage systems
- Direct experience with access control platforms and hardware (Lenel, Genetec) and the design/implementation of access control, fire/life safety and electrical systems in commercial/industrial environments
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
- Proven ability to manage multiple demanding projects and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Attention to documentation, recordkeeping, and archiving processes
