COMPLIANCE ATTORNEY - REMOTE

Job Summary
Compliance Counsel to support enterprise-wide legal and regulatory compliance across mortgage origination and servicing. Provide day-to-day legal advice on mortgage regulatory compliance; interpret and apply federal/state laws (TILA, RESPA including TRID, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA) and CFPB guidance; advise on regulatory changes and risk mitigation; draft/negotiate vendor agreements and third-party contracts; support the Compliance Management System (CMS) and enterprise risk framework; collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Servicing; assist with regulatory responses and legal research; help develop policies, procedures, and training; assist with enterprise risk management and third-party risk; meet attendance requirements and embody company values.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
- 3+ years of experience in mortgage, financial services, or regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal consumer financial laws (TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA)
- Experience interpreting and applying state-level consumer protection and mortgage laws
- Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills
- Experience providing practical legal guidance in a business environment
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- CRCM
- CMCP
- or similar compliance certification
- Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audits, and enforcement actions
- Prior experience within a mortgage lender or servicer
- Familiarity with investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA/VA/USDA)
- Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills
- Experience providing practical legal guidance in a business environment
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
