Job Summary
Conduct thorough due diligence, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring of counterparties across global trading operations. Perform and analyze screenings and reputational searches to ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Terrorist Financing, sanctions, and anti-bribery regulations. Maintain counterparty data through the full commercial relationship lifecycle, investigating low, medium, and high-risk counterparties including PEPs and sanctioned entities. Review daily alerts and escalate issues as appropriate to Senior Compliance while collaborating with Gunvor stakeholders, trading desks, and external counterparties to ensure adherence to Group standards. Requires a university degree, 2–5 years of KYC or compliance experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Required Qualifications
- University degree (e.g. legal, economics or other)
- 2–5 years of professional experience in KYC, due diligence, or compliance
- Proven experience conducting due diligence on high-risk counterparties and jurisdictions, including PEPs and sanctioned entities
- Familiarity with AML-CFT, anti-bribery, and sanctions compliance frameworks
- Experience working with screening tools, reputational databases, and risk assessment methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to manage counterparty data throughout the full lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding
- Experience interacting with trading desks, legal, and other support functions, as well as external counterparties
- Exposure to international compliance environments and working with remote teams
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to propose solutions in order to remediate compliance issues /concerns when assessing counterparties and/or reviewing daily alerts
- Process driven and goal oriented
- Team player willing to support others in achieving our common goals
- Knowledge of AML-CFT/Anti-Bribery and Corruption Compliance or Sanctions
- Proactive and a quick learner with the ability to adapt to changes with optimism
- Stress tolerant
- Ability to work with a remote manager
- Good communication skills and autonomy
- Ability to liaise with other compliance team members working remotely to work and create a strong compliance network at the Group level
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken
Desired Qualifications
- Compliance / KYC certifications are a plus
- Experience within the commodity trading, financial services, or energy sectors
- Exposure to international compliance environments and working with remote teams is an advantage
- Other languages are a plus
- Sense of humor would be a plus
