Job Summary

Act as the Chief Business Officer to the general manager and EC Team, evaluating the financial impact on business decisions and managing cash flow issues through accurate preparation of cash-flow statements and timely deposits. Monitor hotel revenues and expenses, investigate budget variances, and coordinate all forecasts and budgets with active participation from department managers. Ensure compliance with all regulatory licenses, leases, contracts, and operational taxes while establishing and auditing internal financial controls across purchasing, cash handling, and payroll. Review daily revenue reports, labor reports, and weekly general ledger distributions, then reconcile balance sheets, count the main vault, and participate in monthly credit meetings and credit control checklists. Complete bi-annual internal control questionnaires and payroll audits, prepare analysis for ownership and outside firms, and maximize productivity by identifying and solving problem areas. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with scheduling requirements and approach all encounters with guests and employees in a service-oriented manner.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years of related progressive experience in hotel Accounting or related field
  • 4-year college degree with an Accounting/Finance concentration
  • 2-year college degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of related progressive experience (for 4-year degree holders)
  • Minimum of 6 years of related progressive experience (for 2-year degree holders)
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work well in stressful, high pressure situations
  • Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
  • Ability to be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc., from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
  • Ability to be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
  • Ability to prioritize departmental functions in order to meet due dates and deadlines
  • Long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally
