Job Summary
Prepare and review complex property tax returns and workpapers for utility and energy-sector clients, specializing in centrally assessed assets and multi-state filings. Oversee return preparation, provide technical guidance on utility asset classification, and evaluate state-specific apportionment methodologies. Manage property tax calendars, track notices and assessments, and reconcile returns to fixed asset systems and regulatory reports like FERC filings. Lead strategy for complex engagements, supervise team members, and represent clients during audits and formal appeals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of property tax experience
- Prior supervisory experience
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to meet travel requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing utility, energy, or centrally assessed property tax engagements
- Strong understanding of utility asset structures and accounting, as well as apportionment methodologies used in centralized filings
- Familiarity with FERC or state utility regulatory reporting
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with property tax software (PTMS, OneSource, PowerPlan or similar systems)
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
