Job Summary
Handle Commercial General Liability and Business Owners Policy claims from initial investigation through resolution, including litigated files. Review policy language to determine coverage, liability, and damages, then develop and implement resolution plans. Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys while maintaining accurate documentation per company and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with defense counsel and vendors to manage complex cases. Maintain clear communication with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and internal teams. This role supports Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies, a nationwide Property & Casualty insurer backed by Berkshire Hathaway, offering a hybrid schedule of two days remote and three in-office.
Required Qualifications
- Experience handling commercial liability claims, including litigated CGL and BOP claims
- Experience analyzing coverage and policy language
- JD preferred, or bachelor's degree with experience adjusting litigated liability claims
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple claims and competing priorities
- Experience using claims systems and standard business tools
- Active adjuster license or willingness and ability to obtain and maintain all required state licenses
