Job Summary

Compensation Manager at Clay, a People Operations role focused on owning and evolving Clay's compensation function. Lead the philosophy and architecture of base pay, variable pay, and equity; design market-aligned pay programs, conduct benchmarking and surveys, and partner with GTM and Finance to implement incentive structures. Build and maintain the system of record for compensation, design cyclical processes (reviews, promotions, adjustments, offers), and shape equity programs. Communicate complex compensation concepts clearly to managers and employees, enable recruiters in pay discussions, and advise leadership on pay decisions tied to hiring and retention. Requires deep hands-on experience with compensation design, equity, and multi-country compensation (UK/Europe preferred), plus strong communication and strategic-operational balance.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years in compensation with significant hands-on program design experience
  • deep technical foundations across base pay, variable pay, and equity
  • experience working with variable compensation programs, including sales and GTM incentive plans
  • experience building or substantially rebuilding compensation structures, leveling frameworks, and review processes from scratch
  • fluency with equity compensation
  • experience with multi-country compensation, including the UK and Europe, is a plus
