Job Summary
Conduct routine animal husbandry duties, including handling, restraint, and health surveillance of laboratory animals in compliance with federal and local regulatory requirements. Maintain inventory of animal supplies and provide basic technical assistance such as restraint, injections, and blood collections to support research studies. Observe and report status of animal health, food and water consumption, appearance, and behavior. Support cage wash equipment operations and maintenance while performing basic veterinary medical treatments as prescribed by veterinary staff. Work with all species housed at the site, requiring weekend and holiday coverage as an essential personnel role.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or GED
- 2 to 3 years of experience
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to work standing up lifting items above shoulder level for extended periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive physical activities such as pushing and pulling racks of caging, lifting bags of feed and bedding, reaching, stooping and bending
- Weekend and holiday work
- Must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
- Permanent work authorization in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- AALAS Certification preferred
- Experience working with laboratory animals
