Job Summary
Patrol hospital campuses, check property, conduct room searches, and maintain order while issuing citations, apprehending suspects, and collecting evidence. Respond to medical emergencies, assist with fire drills and evacuations, provide security escorts, and chauffeur division heads and visitors as requested. Maintain proficiency in firearms use by attending required periodic training sessions and seminars. Work rotating day shifts from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM or 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Requires active sworn police officer status, North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement certification, and ability to work in various weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Currently sworn, non-retired Police Officer
- At least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Police ID
- VPEC
- Firearm certification
- North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement certification
- Ability to work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
- Ability to stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
- Attendance at required periodic training sessions and seminars
- Maintenance of required level of proficiency in the use of firearms
