Job Summary
Community Worker (On-call) at Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating in-person programming to develop leadership, encourage volunteerism and civic engagement across community programs (Food Bank operations, After School/Youth Programming, Adult Engagement, Community Events) with evening and weekend availability. Requires degree or diploma in health/social services or equivalent, experience in safe, inclusive environments, program planning, group facilitation (in-person and virtual), and working with vulnerable populations. Will perform administrative duties, maintain records, participate in supervision, and collaborate with volunteers and partners. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and hold valid First Aid/CPR within 3 months, with Vulnerable Sector Police Check; bilingualism in English plus Somali/Arabic/French is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in health or social services, youth and childcare worker, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience creating a safe and inclusive environment, including virtual environments
- Training and experience in program planning, group facilitation and leadership development
- Training/experience with in-person group facilitation or virtual programming on various virtual meeting platforms
- Experience working with vulnerable populations in various capacities
- Ability to lift, move, or carry up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation, and perform physically demanding tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, climbing and repetitive motions which may be required based on program responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of community resources
- Fluency in English is essential; fluency in Somali, Arabic, and French is an asset; fluency in other languages is desirable
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is considered an asset
- Valid First Aid and CPR (level C) required within the first 3 months of employment
- Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check required
