Job Summary

Conduct group classes and workshops covering nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle wellness while ensuring safety and inclusive teaching strategies. Provide personalized coaching to help participants set and achieve goals related to nutrition, movement, and overall well-being. Design and refine evidence-based curricula by integrating current research and community needs assessments. Maintain clean, safe spaces and enforce safety protocols, providing CPR/First Aid when required. Collect and analyze participant data to evaluate program effectiveness and guide future improvements. Act as a member advocate by assisting with service navigation and forwarding inquiries to internal teams. Manage administrative tasks including scheduling classes, processing paperwork, and coordinating supply orders. Travel to designated locations to deliver classes as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a nutrition coach or instructor directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Specific experience teaching nutrition and developing nutritious meal plans in a group setting
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active Food Handler's Card (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties)
  • Active CPR/First Aid Certification
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Child Development Certification
  • An active, unrestricted, and unencumbered group fitness, fitness, nutrition, or equivalent certification for all ages from an accredited program (such as NASM, ACE, ISSA, ACSM, AFAA, NCAA, or similar)
  • A Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or a related field from an accredited institution (in lieu of certification)
  • A valid California Driver's license
  • Valid automobile insurance
  • A driving record with no more than three (3) points
  • Knowledge of macronutrients, micronutrients, hydration, digestion, and metabolism
  • Knowledge of exercise principles and group fitness dynamics
  • Knowledge of kitchen and fitness equipment safety
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies, music cueing, and choreography
  • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing
  • Skill in the use of first aid procedures
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people of all ages, cultures, and skill levels
  • Ability to positively support fitness and nutrition goals for members
  • Ability to conduct safe and effective group classes
  • Ability to effectively prepare and process administrative paperwork
  • Ability to motivate and support participants with professionalism and care
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members and community partners
  • Minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical work
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of energy and endurance
  • Ability to remain flexible to ensure hours meet the needs of customers
  • Ability to travel to IE locations designated by Community Wellness Center (CWC) leadership to provide classes

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution
