Job Summary
Direct Service Worker in shelters focused on maintaining a safe environment, monitoring rounds, screening residents/visitors, and performing documentation (logbook entries, incident reports, progress notes). Provide emergency first aid/CPR/NARCAN as needed, assist with inspections/audits, escort clients, serve meals, maintain an orderly facility, and support fire safety drills. The role requires empathy, conflict management, teamwork, and ability to work varied morning/evening/overnight shifts with mandatory overtime. Skills in safety, communication, documentation, and basic computer literacy are emphasized; certifications in CPR, NYC fire safety, and related licenses are pursued as needed. Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification
- NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or ability to obtain certification
- NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; willing to acquire
- Security guard license preferred; willing to acquire
- Food Handler Certificate preferred; willing to acquire
- TB clearance when required
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
- Effective written and oral communication
- Basic computer literacy
- Bilingual abilities a plus
