Job Summary
Community Support Worker responsible for providing individual and group support to residents in homelessness services, promoting independent living skills, well-being, recreation and social engagement. Plan and facilitate group activities to meet residents' social, health, educational and recreational needs; support access to internal and external services including health, mental health, AOD, and therapeutic programs; collaborate with caseworkers and partner services; maintain accurate records, manage risks, participate in rostered tasks, and foster a trauma-informed, strength-based environment to help residents regain control and move toward sustainable, independent living. Based in The Open Door (North Melbourne) and Flagstaff, VIC, with SCHADS Award Level 4 compensation; requires tertiary qualification and a compassionate, person-centred approach.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services or related field
- Experience in homelessness or housing services (desirable)
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to build rapport and navigate high-risk situations with professionalism and care
