Job Summary
The Community Support Specialist collaborates with children and families to access and coordinate a broad range of community services (education, medical, social, vocational, recreational, and therapeutic) and to implement evidence-based interventions. Responsibilities include assessing strengths and needs, developing measurable individual interventions, coordinating transportation and services across home, school, and community, maintaining up-to-date resource materials, providing crisis intervention as needed, and documenting activities and progress. The role supports clinic operations by handling incoming calls, greeting visitors, processing client payments, verifying benefits, scheduling follow-up appointments, and assisting the Clinic Manager and Outpatient Clinic staff. The position requires partnering with supervisors, therapists, and other staff to monitor progress, participate in telehealth/telepsychiatry, and coordinate aftercare planning and referrals.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
- At least two (2) years of experience working directly with children and families
- Must meet the minimum requirements to be certified through the Mississippi Department of Mental Health as a Community Support Specialist
- Must demonstrate competence implementing evidence-based practices, best practices working with children and families
- Must demonstrate competence in completing reports related to payment for services provided
- Computer skills required.
