Job Summary
Community Staff Nurse (Health Visiting) in Suffolk County Council provides early help services to families from pregnancy to age five, delivering the Healthy Child Programme and contributing to the Children’s Centre framework. Responsibilities include planning and delivering universal and targeted services, conducting home visits and group sessions, supporting parents in parenting skills, collaborating with partner agencies for safeguarding, mentoring students and other practitioners, and upholding professional standards in line with the NMC Code and governance requirements. The role offers hybrid working in Ipswich, Suffolk, with a pro rata salary for a part-time, fixed-term/secondment arrangement until March 2027. The post supports an inclusive, child-centered approach across Health (0–19) and Children’s Centres and invites applications from individuals committed to improving outcomes for children and families.
Required Qualifications
- Registration as a Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Registered Nurse
- Experience of working directly with children, young people, and families
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, national guidance, and best practice
- Confidence working with families experiencing complex needs or early signs of difficulty
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
- Experience of multi-agency working and collaborative practice
- Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
- A reflective approach and commitment to continuous professional development
