Community Services Assistant (Temporary)

Job Summary

Assist clients with accessing CSBG, CEAP, LIHWAP, and Weatherization programs while gathering, reviewing, and entering client documents into the automated system. Provide information on RPMC programs, community resources, and eligibility requirements, and maintain accurate client files and documentation according to policy. Answer phones, greet visitors, and support general office operations by coordinating with utility vendors and preparing vouchers, reports, and correspondence as needed. This temporary 6-month assignment in Crowell, Texas, requires a High School Diploma or GED, one year of clerical or social service experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. The role involves lifting up to 25 lbs and driving occasionally within the region. Applications are accepted until filled; this position is not benefit-eligible and does not accrue leave.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of clerical, receptionist, customer service, or social service experience
  • Experience with multi-line phone systems
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of public, employees and management, both orally and in writing using correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Ability to balance a variety of duties, prioritized and meet deadlines
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs and perform standard office physical tasks
  • Must pass criminal history checks and drug/alcohol testing
  • Must possess reliable transportation and a valid Texas driver's license
  • Ability to adapt to inclement weather conditions and/or situations
  • Ability to drive, occasionally long distances within the region
  • Ability to work in stressful environment and deal effectively with stress
  • Ability to perform duties and adapt to flexible work schedules as established by management
  • Light travel – occasional ability to travel for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the service area
