Job Summary
Supervise thirteen to fifteen high-risk misdemeanor and felony offenders assigned to the Community Service Work Crew Program, ensuring contracted work is completed accurately and efficiently. Directly manage participant tasks, hours worked, and attendance while maintaining accurate records and monitoring safety standards. Transport participants and equipment to and from work sites, maintaining frequent contact with the Communications Division regarding location and arrival/departure times. Physically restrain violent or uncontrollable participants as situations demand and utilize evidence-based practices to de-escalate sensitive situations involving program participants. Prepare detailed written reports for incidents, altercations, or operational obstacles. Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles, equipment, and ACCC building grounds, scheduling services and repairs as needed. Conduct program orientation and assist with mail delivery in the absence of the Community Projects Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- More than one year of experience working in a fast-paced, high stress environment
- Knowledge of legal terminology and the criminal justice system and how it relates with Allen County Community Corrections
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to write detailed reports and have great attention to detail
- Ability to supervise high-risk misdemeanor and/or felony offenders
- Ability to be successfully certified in the use of the following equipment within 3 months of employment including the Taser, Handcuff, Firearms, and Pepper Spray as assigned
- Must attend and successfully complete all required agency training courses, including defensive tactics and other physically demanding hands-on trainings as assigned
- Working knowledge of defensive tactics
- Ability to obtain Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Certification as assigned
- Ability to be certified in Motivational Interviewing (MI) within twelve months
- Ability to obtain required training certificates within 3 months of employment, including First Responder/CPR, Response to Resistance, Verbal De-Escalation, and Disease Control as assigned
- Valid Driver's License to operate County vehicle
- Knowledge of evidence-based principles and practices
- Must model Pro-Social behavior at times and in all places
Desired Qualifications
- Must be able to complete required Correctional EBP training programs and demonstrate competencies that focus on empirical recidivism risk reduction strategies
