Job Summary
Represent The Salvation Army as chief spokesperson and media liaison across Travis and Williamson Counties, translating brand strategy into donor engagement and fundraising growth. Lead direct mail strategy by coordinating with external vendors to produce story-driven campaigns tied to seasonal giving calendars. Cultivate partnerships with nonprofits, schools, churches, and civic organizations to identify volunteers, sponsors, and matching-gift partners. Serve as Public Information Officer for disaster services, responding to media inquiries and developing crisis communication plans. Supervise assigned staff, train employees on PR procedures, and evaluate performance while managing the Development Department in the Director's absence. Submit press releases, newsletters, and promotional materials to local media and internal outlets, ensuring all communications align with organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Communication or a related field
- At least four years progressively responsible experience managing a public relations program
- Valid State Drivers License
- Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language effectively
- Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints
- Ability to speak before large groups in person, by radio and television
- Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles
