Job Summary
Community Recreation Support Specialist helps children and adults with disabilities participate in community-based recreation programs (e.g., dance, t-ball, summer camps, art classes, yoga, swimming). Acts as an assistant coach/instructor alongside Parks and Recreation staff, blends with program staff, and provides individualized support (extra instruction, sensory strategies, behavioral support, personal care assistance, social facilitation) to promote inclusion, skill-building, independence, and positive peer interactions. Responsibilities include coordinating with Parks and Recreation staff, maintaining family communication, documenting shifts, and ensuring participant safety. The role is primarily based in Chanhassen, MN, with occasional shifts across the Twin Cities metro, orientation/training at the Edina, MN office, and a typical schedule of 4-6 shifts per week (up to 36 hours). Salary is $17 per hour plus mileage with benefits such as PTO, mileage reimbursement, and casual dress code.
