Job Summary
The Marine Mammal Center seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator in Marin Headlands (Sausalito, CA) to lead outreach delivery methods, create messaging and materials, plan and implement events, engage the community, and build relationships in collaboration with departments. Responsibilities include developing outreach content (fairs, presentations), maintaining resources for offsite events, coordinating program offerings, evaluating public engagement, training education volunteers, ensuring adequate staffing for events, serving as a point of contact for volunteers, and representing the Center to donors. Requires a bachelor’s-equivalent background plus 2 years of outreach/volunteer-engagement experience, and a valid driver license; onsite work required with regular evenings, weekends, travel, and hybrid/remote considerations not indicated. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, video conferencing tools (Slack, Teams, Zoom), and design tools (Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Canva) is preferred. The role emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental education in a museum/zoo/aquarium setting, with an emphasis on community partnerships and donor engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, natural sciences, communications, or related field; and 2 years of experience conducting outreach and/or community engagement and working with volunteers.
- Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record (Must be 21+ years old)
