Job Summary
Originate mortgage loans by conducting outbound calls to existing and prospective customers, analyzing needs, and offering high-quality Wells Fargo Home Mortgage programs. Process loan applications, review rates and terms within guidelines, and collaborate with fulfillment partners to meet client needs throughout the origination process. Mentor and coach branch employees to increase knowledge of mortgage products while maintaining strict adherence to SAFE registration, underwriting requirements, and compliance policies. Work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed, maintaining high client satisfaction through proactive communication and continuous pursuit of company training.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education
- This SAFE position has customer contact and job duties which may include the offering/negotiating of terms and/or taking an application for a dwelling secured transaction. As such, this position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations.
- Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results.
- Individuals in a SAFE position also must meet the Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z (LO) outlined in the job expectations below

- Individuals in Loan Originator (LO) positions must meet the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau qualification requirements and comply with related Wells Fargo policies.
- The LO qualification requirements include meeting applicable financial responsibility, character, general financial fitness and criminal background standards.
- A current credit report will be used to assess your financial responsibility and credit fitness
- Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening, if necessary
- This position requires SAFE registration at the time of employment.
- The Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) website (http://fedregistry.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position.
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of mortgage retail sales experience
- Expertise of general lending products and overall mortgage industry experience
- Experience with retail residential mortgage, purchase fundings over the past 12 months referred primarily from established, local or external sources
- Established relationships with diverse realtor organizations and affordable lending nonprofits in assigned market
- Experience with community loan products inclusive of specialized LMI mortgage solutions, lender paid assistance programs and 3rd party assistance programs
- FHA/VA & conventional loan experience is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of sales prospecting and generating referrals
- Experience with educating clients on various mortgage purchase programs
- Experience developing and cultivating professional relationships
- Customer service experience
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to provide leadership by coaching, training, and mentoring
- Bilingual speaking proficiency in Spanish/English preferred
