Job Summary
Community Life Assistant engages in planning, organizing, and implementing a program of therapeutic activities to meet the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational and physical needs of residents per the resident care plan. Responsibilities include developing/delivering therapeutic recreational services, encouraging resident participation in group and individual activities (arts/crafts, outings, religious, educational, service, and recreational activities), documenting participation, implementing activity programs, following safety and dementia-care protocols, maintaining confidentiality, communicating effectively with residents and families, and adhering to terms in the employee handbook. Requires ability to work closely with residents, families, volunteers, and staff, and to function independently with flexibility and integrity; English literacy and a valid driver’s license are required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED preferred
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience preferred; Previous experience in leading recreational activities, arts/crafts, intellectual/educational activities, community outings, etc, desired
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state, federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation
- Must be able to read, write, understand and speak the English language
- Special care or dementia care employees will have additional training in the care and treatment of dementia residents
