Job Summary
Provide support and assistance to residential clients, ensuring a safe and healthy environment while working toward self-sufficiency. Monitor the residential hall for security, conduct weekly room inspections, administer drug tests, and take prompt action on resident safety or health issues. Document progress updates in electronic platforms and communicate critical issues to staff on other shifts using established protocols. Intervene in crisis situations to proactively resolve issues and act as the organization's representative after hours to welcome volunteers, donors, and visitors. Assist with rotating duties including front desk monitoring, supply room management, and dining room supervision.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED completed
- Training and/or experience as a behavioral health tech or frontline staff with homeless population
- Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States
- Must pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Must have hearing and speaking ability for effective oral communication
- Must have visual acuity to make observations of facilities
- Must have physical ability to handle both indoor and outdoor temperatures
- Must have physical, emotional and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress
- Must have ability to climb stairs and make walk-throughs of entire residential area
- Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals
- Requires understanding of poverty
- Requires a high degree of maturity
- Requires strong inter-personal skills
- Requires the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner
- Demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity
- Ability to deescalate clients on the edge of verbal or physical violence
- Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework
- Demonstrates computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Willing to work with minimal supervision
- Well organized and detail oriented
- Requires customer service and oral and written communication skills
- Bi-lingual a plus, but not required
