Job Summary
Part-Time Community Kitchen Porter responsible for overseeing the Cypress Hills East New York Community Kitchen when the Director is not present, maintaining a safe, positive, and cooperative kitchen environment, performing deep cleaning and general maintenance, following opening/closing procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance (NYC DOH and related regs), assisting food entrepreneurs with equipment access, and representing CHLDC professionally to stakeholders. Requires either a valid NYC DOH Food Handlers License or willingness to obtain within 2 months; flexible availability including mornings, evenings, and weekends; proficiency with Google Workspace; ability to pass a background check; bilingual ability preferred. Compensation is $25 hourly, with equal employment opportunity and nonprofit salary scale. Location specified as Brooklyn, NY (Chestnut Commons Community Center, 11208).
Required Qualifications
- Relevant facilities maintenance experience required
- Valid NYC DOH Food Handlers License (or willingness to acquire within the first 2 months)
- Must pass background check
- Proficiency in navigating Google Workspace and basic email management
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Bengali, or Mandarin)
