Job Summary
Monitor and observe Sobering Center client behavior to ensure safety, accountability, and stability. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary staff to de-escalate emotionally unstable clients, conduct property safety checks, and maintain daily bed rosters. Create a welcoming environment by assisting with meal distribution, managing facility cleanliness, and preparing hygienic items for incoming clients. Provide transportation to local facilities and respond to emergency needs as directed by Health Center staff. Coordinate referrals and transfers to continuing care while offering culturally appropriate health education, coaching, and social support.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must have a valid driving record in California (SC only)
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, in person and over the phone
- Must be able to use standard janitorial and cleaning equipment
- Must be able to operate a computer keyboard and read computer displays
- Short and long-term memory
- Ability to listen to others, and to act decisively on information received
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to recognize stress factors and creative ways to reduce them
- Ability to control emotions during times of conflict and high stress
- Ability to function as a team member and cooperate with other staff and agencies
- Ability to work with diverse populations, cultures and people with co-occurring disorders, disabilities, and complex trauma
- Ability to accurately document verbal and written information received
- Ability to maintain a welcoming and positive attitude while working
- Ability to be flexible to work with organizational and or program changes
- Ability to respond to crises promptly
