Job Summary
Maintain communication with local organizations and stakeholders to promote NYC Health Department programs and collect feedback on community needs. Engage with community partners to promote health services, resources, and education while representing the bureau at health fairs, meetings, and external events throughout Queens. Deliver presentations and workshops to diverse audiences and maintain data reporting on community activities and results. Support Bureau-wide programs and initiatives, including Just in Time training for emergency response coordination during incidents like legionella outbreaks. Distribute information and coordinate sessions to residents and businesses regarding climate health preventive measures. Requires a baccalaureate degree or equivalent experience, with bilingual Spanish, Bengali, Mandarin, or other language proficiency encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
- Two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above
- At least one year of experience as described in the first option (baccalaureate degree and two years of experience)
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of community work experience
- Excellent organizational skills and highly detail oriented
- Knowledge of Queens local communities and local organization leadership, specifically Jamaica and surrounding areas
- Comfortable speaking in public
- Bilingual (written and spoken) Spanish, Bengali, Mandarin, or other language proficiency
