Job Summary
Develop and implement personalized habilitation plans based on participants' strengths, needs, and goals to promote skill development and independence in daily living activities. Facilitate community-based outings, social activities, and educational opportunities to enhance social skills, while providing hands-on training in communication, self-care, and household management. Partner with families and caregivers to ensure continuity of support, track participant progress, and prepare progress reports. Handle crisis situations calmly, implementing appropriate interventions to ensure safety and well-being. Advocate for the rights and inclusion of persons with developmental disabilities within the community. This per diem role at The New York Foundling supports individuals navigating foster care and building lifelong resilience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to build rapport and establish trust with participants while providing supportive guidance and encouragement
