Job Summary
Conduct community engagement activities to promote recycling, clean streets, and waste-related messages while representing Bristol Waste Company at events, talks, and meetings. Resolve street and household issues related to waste presentation and collection, acting as the primary contact point for residents, councillors, and community groups. Build relationships with targeted communities including schools and council officers, gather data for campaign reporting, and monitor household recycling participation to target future engagement. Deliver effective pop-up events across the city and manage internal relationships to ensure a superior customer experience. Requires a full UK driving licence, willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, and experience in event management and behaviour change models.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of the waste & recycling industry and/or environmental issues, sustainability, carbon agenda etc
- Knowledge of engagement and behaviour change models and their application
- Experience of community engagement with proven positive results
- Experience of event management
- Ability to think creatively and use judgement, experience and initiative to solve problems
- An aptitude for collaboration and cross team working
- Able to demonstrate analytical, organisation and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with all sections of the community, in a variety of situations, including the confidence to present to different audiences (such as Councillors, community groups, school children) and represent Bristol Waste at events
- Sound ICT skills, specifically MS Office suite
- Ability to work autonomously and manage own time/workload
- Must be willing to work occasional evenings/weekends
- Current, valid full UK driving licence
