Job Summary
Conduct weekly client services, advocacy counseling, and information delivery via videophone, Zoom, or in-person meetings while maintaining Salesforce records. Deliver self-advocacy resources, facilitate communication access, and submit interpreter requests for each assignment. Lead quarterly advocacy workshops, promote public awareness events, and create social media content to reflect advocacy services. Maintain relationships with nonprofit and for-profit agencies to advocate for Deaf* community needs and generate reports for internal use. This role requires minimum three days per-week on-site presence in San Leandro, fluency in American Sign Language, and an Associate Degree or equivalent experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three days per-week on-site presence
- Fluent in American Sign Language
- Associate Degree or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in ASL
- Knowledge of Deaf culture
- Strong communication skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Active listening skills
- Proficiency with Google Workspace
- Understanding of ADA, Section 504, and related laws protecting Deaf* rights
- Must be based within commuting distance of San Leandro
- Available to meet with clients on short notice
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
- Three years of experience in social services or social work
- Knowledge of social justice issues affecting Deaf* communities
- Experience working in diverse social and cultural environments
- Proficiency with Salesforce platform
