Job Summary
The Employment Specialist provides individualized support to people with I/DD pursuing community employment, including discovery, person-centered planning, job training, and networking with employers. Responsibilities include job development and discovery, creating customized employment opportunities, coaching, resume and interview support, and assisting participants with goal setting, documentation, and task analysis. The role emphasizes building positive relationships with participants, families, and employers, coordinating with vendors and leadership, ensuring safety and compliance, and maintaining knowledge of policies and Oregon administrative rules. The position requires driving to multiple worksites, strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and flexibility to align with clients’ schedules; it is an in-person hourly role with a standard weekday schedule and rotating on-call weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Two year degree in Health Services or related field
- Two years of work experience in health services and/or mental health field
- Two years of experience in a position that included sales and training responsibilities
- Preference for experience with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Current Oregon driver’s license and ability to get from worksite to worksite
- Proficiency in current and future technology to fulfill job responsibilities
