Community Education Dance Instructor

Job Summary
Teach engaging, safe, and age-appropriate dance classes in classical ballet and additional genres like jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, or tap. Develop progressive lesson plans aligned with curriculum guidelines and create original choreography for recitals and productions. Provide constructive feedback, monitor student progress, and maintain high standards for body mechanics and injury prevention. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment while communicating clearly with students, parents, and leadership. Assist with rehearsals, performances, and other School of Dance activities as needed. This role requires a strong foundational background in classical ballet and at least one year of teaching experience across various age groups.
Required Qualifications
- Formal dance training
- Comprehensive knowledge of dance skills, terminology, and techniques in classical ballet
- A minimum of one year of experience teaching dancers of various ages and skill levels
- Demonstrated ability to develop age-appropriate lesson plans and provide effective dance instruction
- Energetic, creative, dependable, punctual, and engaging
- Strong classroom management and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to provide constructive feedback in a positive and supportive manner
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and School of Dance leadership
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, rehearsals, and performances, as required
- Background investigation clearance (criminal history record check, and when appropriate, financial and/or motor vehicle history)
Desired Qualifications
- Additional proficiency in jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, and/or tap
- Training or experience in one or more additional dance genres, including jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, and/or tap
