Community Disaster Program Specialist

Job Summary
Guide and lead teams of trained volunteers to deliver comfort and care during disasters, ensuring services are rapid, accessible, and culturally equitable. Support the implementation of disaster cycle services programs within an assigned geographic area while managing targets for volunteer engagement and local response teams. Act as the primary point of contact for community partners to mobilize resources before, during, and after emergencies. Engage disaster volunteers as the core workforce to build mission capacity and prepare communities for resilience. Participate in regional disaster response operations upon completing required training, with annual deployments outside the region for skill development. Work outside regular hours including nights and weekends to meet operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- Reside no more than 1 hour from Owensboro, KY area
- Reside in Davies County, Hopkins County, Hancock County or Ohio County
- Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
- Valid driver's license
- Clean MVR
- Ability to coordinate staff and volunteer activities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proven record of accomplishment of collaboration with diverse groups and individual's representative of all the demographics of this community

- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to work outside of regular duty hours including nights and weekends
- Meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment
- Deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at a minimum of once a year
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
