Job Summary
Community Connector role within SWAMS Aged Care, focused on building relationships and enabling Aboriginal community members to access disability or aged care services. Responsibilities include advocating for others to achieve outcomes, prioritising tasks in busy environments, and communicating clearly to influence and inform, with a strong emphasis on cultural diversity, yarning with people in the community, and developing skills in the growing aged care sector. Experience in disability services, particularly NDIS, and a proven ability to build trust and rapport with individuals and groups to achieve positive outcomes are valued. The role requires safeguarding checks (National Police Clearance and WA Working with Children Check) and pre-employment Drug and Alcohol screening.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in advocating and supporting others to reach goals or outcomes
- Ability to prioritise tasks and follow up, particularly in busy environments
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication, with persuasive communication to influence, inform and build understanding
- Strong understanding of, and experience working in disability services, in particular NDIS supports
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with individuals and groups to achieve positive outcomes for them
- Willingness to learn about NDIS supports and disability-related challenges
