Job Summary

Seeking a temporary part-time Cinema Instructor for the Fall and Spring semesters of the 2026-2027 academic year at Minneapolis College. Responsibilities include evaluating student progress, maintaining communication with students, supporting the college's mission, and promoting diversity. Requires a Bachelor's degree related to cinema, two years of related experience, and adherence to the recency requirement. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in cinema/film or visual arts or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 20 semester credits (30 quarter credits) in cinema/film or visual arts.
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in the cinema/film field.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Desired Qualifications

  • Community College Experience – two or more years of teaching experience in a community or combined community and technical college
  • Demonstrated teaching in multiple modalities, including fully online and blended models.
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
  • Evidence of adapting classroom practice and pedagogy to meet the needs of students.
  • Experience with the development of assessment strategies and practices across all levels: classroom, department, and college.
  • Demonstrated willingness to participate through committee work and/or student activities.
  • Demonstrated contributions to student growth and development through retention measures, student mentoring, and student activities.
