Job Summary
Community Canvasser to conduct door-to-door outreach and voter engagement in Michigan cities, supporting year-round civic engagement and the Michigan Latino Voter Project. Role involves relationship-building, voter outreach, and connecting residents to organizing campaigns, leadership opportunities, and community programs. Responsibilities include door-to-door outreach, voter registration support, issue identification, persuasion, GOTV efforts, deep canvassing, volunteer recruitment, literature drops, petition collection, survey outreach, and community education. Participation in events, turnout operations during election cycles, and data recording using VAN, EveryAction, MiniVAN, ThruTalk/Text, Google Forms, and related tools. Must track daily outreach metrics, follow turf goals, and adhere to organizing procedures. Evening and weekend work required; 20-30 hours per week with temporary dates across July–August and September–November 2026. Includes opportunities for advancement into organizer roles and benefits like 401K.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interest in civic engagement, organizing, advocacy, or community leadership
- Comfortable engaging directly with community members and having face-to-face conversations
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable walking outdoors for extended periods
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Experience working within Latino, immigrant, Indigenous, bilingual, and/or working-class communities preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
