Job Summary
Advocate for the local Tribal Council in court proceedings involving Child in Need of Aid (CINA) cases by actively participating in OCS case meetings, safety planning, and home visits. Serve as a liaison between OCS, advocates, families, and attorneys to coordinate referrals, provide ongoing support, and ensure successful case plan completion. Prepare required court documents, monitor family progress, and recruit Native foster homes by creating informational materials and assisting with applications. Plan community prevention activities and partner with local organizations to encourage healthy family engagement. Maintain open communication with families to identify needs and reflect cultural values in all decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must reside in the compacted village in which they are applying
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and travel as needed
- Must submit to a Character Background Investigation
- Must complete fingerprint process
- Must complete a Compliance Application
- Case management
- Interviewing
- Assessing needs and resources for families
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Treats people with respect
- Exhibits sound and accurate judgment
- Includes appropriate people in decision-making process
Desired Qualifications
- Fluency in Yup'ik or Cup'ik
- Familiarity with Yup'ik lifestyles and the AVCP region
