Job Summary
Field technician role assisting with the installation, operation, and maintenance of EnerStar Solutions’ communications and remote monitoring systems at active job sites. Works with the Communications Manager and other technicians to install and monitor communications equipment, perform basic testing and troubleshooting of satellite, internet, cameras, LTE, and related systems, process work orders, maintain vehicle and inventory records, and travel as needed. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and EnGenius Certified Network Specialist certification, plus relevant technical certifications; 1+ year (2+ for Tech II) of progressive technical experience preferred. Travel and outdoor work are routine, with emphasis on safety, customer support, and field improvements as skills develop.
Required Qualifications
- EnGenius Certified Network Specialist required
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college diploma or equivalent considered an asset
- Additional technical certifications in networking, telecommunications, or electronics are considered an asset
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working within technical teams preferred
- Experience installing internet, cable, intercom, telecom, satellite, or remote monitoring equipment is an asset
- Experience for Tech II: Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience as a Communications Technician or in a related role; minimum 2 years of experience with installing and supporting communications equipment; minimum 6 months of satisfactory performance at the Communications Technician I level
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ability to work independently and in a team; professional demeanor; computer proficiency; basic technical skills in telecommunications, networking, and cabling; ability to fabricate/terminate RJ-45, coaxial, LMR240, LMR400 cables; ability to configure/deploy satellite-based internet systems; PTZ network cameras; repair electronics; use signal-finding tools; set up communications towers and booster equipment; configure and monitor Starlink, Wi-Fi routers, and access points
